Salem VA Medical Center

Beautiful campus!! The staff and volunteers, across the board, are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The Specialist's I have seen have all been very good and their Nursing and support equally as excellent. And every appointment I have had has been on time. I have also met some great fellow veterans there. No one wants to go to a doctor/hospital but the Salem VA lives up to the promise of care I was given a half century ago. Thank you Salem VA

I've been a beneficiary of the Salem VAMC since moving here in 2015. While there is a lot of negative press on access to care, Salem does much better than provide outstanding care - they lead the way on how a VA Medical Center can set the standard for care for Veterans in the United States. I've seen other care areas that did not provide care to the level that most Salem VAMC beneficiaries take for granted. My providers care for me and I feel confident in their assessment of anything I come to them with. I have no problem talking with other Veterans who might not be utilizing their benefits there. I would say that my experience there has been exemplary. I highly recommend the Salem VAMC to anyone who served our country honorably for their care. I appreciate them and trust them with my car

I have been with Salem VA only since July 2025, and i am thoroughly impressed with the staff of multiple areas of medicine. Quick message response from MyHealth, quick scheduling and action for my needs. I told Dr. Tran he and his staff, etc. under Dr. Keating, they are great. He listens to my needs. This also applies to Gastro, pediatry, pulminary, and optometry. Clean facility, and knowledgeable support staff. Answers calls or responds quickly upon msg. Coming from Eastern Virginia area, thank you, Salem 👍

I had the most amazing experience this morning (Oct 20, 2025) at the Salem VA Medical Center. The surgical staff explained everything to us, answered all questions, and were super friendly. Upon leaving I stopped by Customer Service/ Information Desk and a gentleman by Ralph happily assisted me. Our last stop was patient enrollment to have an ID made and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you SVAMC!

I came to the Salem Veterans Medical Center from North Carolina where I live now because they have really good people that care for Veterans and love living in my hometown of Roanoke Valley. My issue is with the kitchen staff and more importantly the Manager there. To put it lightly, They Suck”! I have a few Ulcers in my stomach and they don’t follow the Diet that was organized for me.😡. Something needs to change right now. Fire the Kitchen Manager. I shown my name because I want this done. I worked in restaurants when in college and coming out of retirement to work as a Restaurant Manager and working on re-upping my ServSafe Certification. I know my Shit. 😃
