Back in December of 2024 My husband had Dr. Ricciardi as his surgeon to remove a section of his colon that had cancer and to put in an osteomy bag. His intestines never fired back up and they discharged him only to have him return with a blockage 12 hours later. After 3 weeks in Mass General with a tube down his nose to relieve pressure they sent him home again and Dr. Ricciardi never came to see him in the hospital, instead his interns came in everyday to not give any explanations of what is happening. For the next 2 months my husband stopped eating all together and lost his mobility and 20 pounds. During this time we called as well as our oncologist, visiting nurse, and PCP to NEVER get a call back. Once I requested a second opinion from a hospital out of NY we then got a call from R

I have decided to finally come forward. I'm sure Dr. Ricciardi and his team remember me. I started having severe abdominal pain on the left side at the end of October. I turned to MGH for help 3 separate times for 50 days, 30 of those days hospital stays. I would get an antibiotic for a week or 2 and told to go home and try to get inflammation down for a colonoscopy. And my question was "what if it doesn't go down". And it never did. On the 3rd ER visit 4 ctscan I now had multiple abscesses one measuring 5 cm and a pre forming fistula. Pain was unbearable. I felt like I was being ripped open inside. I was admitted to the surgical team. I was told 2nd day in of my 3rd stay that I needed surgery and soon. But to go home for 6 to 8 weeks on antibiotics I was given different excuses by Dr. Ri

I have had chronic pilonidal disease for over 7 years with three pits, constant drainage, and worsening pain. I previously saw a surgeon in NYC who recommended surgical treatment, but I moved to Massachusetts before the procedure could be done. I traveled from Martha’s Vineyard to Boston for a new patient appointment hoping to continue care. During the visit, the surgeon shaved the area and manually removed hair without warning (of pain level) or local anesthesia, and it was extremely painful. He insisted that keeping the area hair-free would allow the wounds to close and the condition to resolve on its own. Given the length and severity of my condition, this approach was unrealistic and, unsurprisingly, did not help. When I later called to schedule surgery, which had been implied as an

Viciously sadistic. I had gone to see Dr. Ricciardi after a hemorrhoid had burst requesting that the remaining flap of skin be removed. I had been told by MGH Colo-Rectal surgery staff that it could be cut out using local anesthetic in one visit. During my first appointment, after a few off-color remarks and questions by Dr. Ricciardi and a "physician" in training, he used a speculum type of device to inspect the affected area and made his brief examination hurt more than I had suspected it needed to. I was told I needed to undergo the same type of anesthesia used during a colonoscopy or endoscopy. He said, "If that brief exam with the speculum hurt, you'll probably need more aggressive anesthesia". At the end of the examination, as the doctors walked out, Dr. Ricciardi said to me,

My husband had surgery performed by Dr Ricciardi. He was wonderful, called after the surgery to give my family an update. I didn't feel rushed and he took the time to explain. Aftercare he check in and answered all questions we had. When we got home and I had to call the office due to a concern. His staff called back quickly. I was crying and they didn't rush me off the phone. She was amazing and put me at ease. I was so surprised when Dr. Ricciardi called us at 7 pm to see about our concerns. He was so great and I was so appreciative for his call. I would recommend Dr. Ricciardi. I am so grateful for him and his staff.
