Mulberry Square

My brother was a patient at Mulberry Square from August 12th to September 26th. He had a fractured hip repaired and due to intellectual disabilities as well as being blind in one eye and very hard of hearing his rehab was going to be slower. I cannot praise the staff enough. Being a retired RN , I could see that they were short staffed sometimes but they all pleasant and answered his bell as quick as they could. The food was delicious and always way more than my brother could eat. They kept me and the rest of our family well informed about everything and we were always welcome to go to physical therapy with him, They always tried to include him as well as other residents in the activities of the day. Some of the nurses were great there, but even the nice ones made my grandma eat or tried forcing her to be awake when she was dying. There’s supposed to take care of the dying, not make them worse. She died so quickly and her mind went so fast within the month she was there. She was fine and then just went downhill out of nowhere. It takes 10+ minutes sometimes for calls to be answered even if they’re not busy and by that time the residents have already went to the bathroom themselves and then the workers have to clean them up. My grandpa was the only one to be called and asked if he wanted to see her. My mom was on the list and was not offered, which irritated me because I wanted to see her one last time.

My mom was there for about 2 months. Then she passed away. In the time she was there, a few of the nurses were very sweet and kind and good people. But the reception desk that answered calls and some of the night nurses were not nice at all. They did lie to us about someone having a POA when no POA existed for my mom. We were told a few other lies about someone being fired for supposedly breaking hipaa laws and the person never broke hipaa laws nor were they fired. A night nurse and receptionist both lied about that. We did not appreciate the fact my mom was dying but we kept being told she was fine. When in fact she wasn't at all. Mom isn't there anymore but we really did not appreciate being lied to when she was. Be honest with people and if you can't say something just say I c

If I could go lower than 1 star I would. Been here 2 months for Physical Rehab. Recieved nothing but excuses and false promises.
