L&M Hospital

6 hours in the ER before I even had my blood pressure taken. Not to mention, not one board certified physician checked on me. Records falsified on 3 notable occasions. Efforts to amend errors made on medical record not accommodated. Patient relations never followed through. (If this “teaching hospital” needs to save money, shave off the relations department. They’re fabricated buffer’s for empathy albeit they may have compassion, what is leadership doing?) Safety and security workers are staffed by an outside vendor. Ashamed to have been born here 31 years ago and see this is how it’s turned out. Between 2019-2025 it’s been steady decline in care. The only YNNH facility I trust at this time is Pequot for the time being.

I've been here several times for many different reasons. The way the staff treats people is atrocious. Particularly the emergency room. Check in nurses screaming at people and nurses being aggressive to elderly patients. Ridiculously long wait times with zero accommodations for patients in discomfort. Busting open the bathroom doors without knocking and claiming patients are taking too long. Treating patients as if they're in a correctional facility instead of a hospital. The hospital itself was built poorly. Hallways that aren't wide enough to move a stretcher - so prepare for an agonizing ride of getting slammed into walls and corners, getting caught in doorways and extremely overcrowded hallways. Go somewhere else. Backus is worth the 20 minute drive.

I have had multiple deeply negative experiences at this hospital, and I feel it is important to share them so others are aware. ER Stay – On one occasion, I was brought to the ER and left in a hallway bed for four days before being given a room. The nurse assigned to me was unprofessional, rude, and visibly annoyed any time I asked a question. To make matters worse, they refused to give me my daily medications simply because my doctor was not affiliated with their hospital—his office was in Colchester. Surgery Experience – I also paid cash for a surgery that this hospital botched. When the doctor had to redo it, I was forced to pay all fees a second time. Super unorganized. I was supposed to have imaging done they had me sit for an hour to tell me the appointment was canceled. I show up the week after for the next appointment after receiving a confirmation text that my app was at 8:30 AM at L&M hospital. I'm then told the appointment is at pequot for 8:30 AM when my confirmation text says L&M hospital. I'm not being rescheduled for a third time. Not to mention the lady at the check-in gave me an attitude about it. I'm disgusted.

Born and raised in New London I pretty much always had to go here and I see all the new renovations but unfortunately still a terrible experience. From the moment of checking in, to the four hour wait for a prescription for my daughter and a doctor note. SMH, I couldn’t wait any longer. At minimum a follow up to understand why I’m waiting an extra hour for someone to write note. Oh, but even following the terrible experience of being there it continued when I went to go pick up the prescription and they said it was sent to the wrong location in another city. This is after agreeing with the doctor and nurse which pharmacy I will be going to. Please don’t just fix the issues with this hospitals cosmetics but how about the procedures.
