Jon McDonald Dentist

Usually I do not write reviews, but while checking the office hours of Dr. McDonald, I glanced at the aggregated review scores and was surprised to see they were relatively low. This led me to read some of the comments. After reading a few of them, I found myself wondering whether people ever reflect on their own behavior toward the staff and the doctor, rather than judging a single situation solely from their own point of view. Regardless, since I have been a patient of Dr. McDonald for over 15 years and have consistently had very positive experiences—both during routine visits, emergencies, and treatments—I felt it was only fair to contribute and help balance the overall rating.

Yeah Dr McDonald is my brother so I am biased. However, There isn’t a more considerate, ethical, generous, hard-working person on this planet. I am stunned to see the percentage of poor reviews. Our mom used to always tell us “ it is a very thin pancake that doesn’t have two sides” There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. McDonald does his absolute best and has nothing but good intentions for every patient that comes through his office.

I am the daughter of a (former) patient of this practice. I am also a dentist. I am compelled to leave this review on behalf of my elderly father who relies on his family's assistance regarding his healthcare needs. We have power of attorney and it is customary to ask questions on his behalf in such matters. My father is 94 years old and has vision impairment due to macular degeneration. I asked Dr. McDonald to clarify the treatment plan with me (in writing) and review his clinical findings, so that my father and I could fully understand the proposal and costs prior to his consent to treatment. Terrible customer service. I got to my appointment yesterday and went back with the hygienist. She wasn't friendly. That's fine. I felt like she was being really rough and then was rude about it. About twenty minutes in I had enough and said this isn't working and got up. As my mouth was filling with blood, I asked the ladies at the counter to reschedule me with someone else as I felt like the woman was being rude, hurting me needlessly. I've been going there for the last 4 years, since moving to NM. Never had an issue with any of the others. So this morning I was called and told that I should find a new dentist as I had hurt her feelings. He dropped me as I could not take the X-ray during an appointment. On that appointment he accepted my apology for not taking Xray due to I had only 30 minute for that appointment. Then he sent out a note to dismiss me. This Doctor care more about money than you! Terrible. So he does not want you to cancel your appointment even you have a good reason for it.
