Guthrie Cortland Medical Center

Fabulous place! Check-in was very efficient. Conveniently located in downtown Cortland with plenty of free parking. A clean, neat facility. I had a colonoscopy done and it went quite well and was very painless. Dr. Brent Lemberg and Nurse Sarah and Nurse Erica Satterly were all kind, caring, compassionate, and skilled at what they do. Highly recommended!

Labor & Delivery: They were absolutely amazing. I cannot express in words enough how amazing they made mine & my partners first experience there. ALL the nurses from every shift were incredible as well as Doctor Claire. There was so many things I was nervous about during my induction & they were all so helpful, patient, caring, respectful, soothing.. literally just everything. There isn’t a single thing I could complain about or say they could do better.

My son was discharged from the BSU with a diagnosis of "psychiatric issues" I would like to know the ICD 10 code for that diagnosis. Next, no meds! Sent scripts to the pharmacy while his insurance was still covering him as an inpatient service so the insurance wouldn't cover the medications. 1,582 dollars out of pocket. I called to work with his team only to be told they couldn't help us. Failed discharge! Failed treatment and a huge disservice to my son and our family. The SW is a joke and offered no resources other than a prescription discount card....really!? Guthrie behavioral science units are ineffective and as far as I could see, staff are incompetent or lazy. They are not doing well in assisting people with SMI to remain in the community. Over my two visits at the Guthrie Cortland Hospital. It had been an amazing experience. We had went to the ER previously for stomach problems for my mother, and although the long, long wait in the waiting room [ As we were there at an incredibly busy time. ] They were able to figure out the cause, which was her gallbladder, and made sure she was cared for. After the gallbladder removal surgery, and it couldn't have went better. The nurses and doctors were incredibly nice and understanding and were able to do a successful surgery without any problems. Was even able to go home on the same day without ANY issues! If you cannot handle very long waits in the ER without going insane, it might not be the best place. Otherwise, I 100% recommend this hospital.

The registration lady, Robin?, had a Virgin Mary clendar and told Jesus stories while checking me in, wasting my time and unsettling me before my procedure. I thought for sure this wasn't a religious institution. Other than that one innappropriate and annoying person I felt my level of care was excellent. The nurses and technicians were outstanding - really nice and comforting. I would recommend Guthrie to others.
