Formal Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct and Patient Safety Concerns at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, Dr. Daniel Choi. MD, DDS. I am submitting this complaint to formally report serious concerns regarding the conduct and professionalism of Dr. Choi and his staff at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at MGH Boston. During my time as a patient, I experienced a repeated and concerning lack of communication. I placed over 18 phone calls and left several voicemails seeking medical follow up, none of which were returned. Similar to another comment, the Patient Services coordinator of Dr. Burris. His name is Gregory. He absolutely sucks and honestly should be fired. You can leave 500 messages and he won’t respond, and the worst part is HE’S THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SCHEDULE HER APPOINTMENTS. So you end up waiting for this inconsiderate, incompetent dude to get back to you, for him to have an attitude when he does finally call back. The front desk NEVER picks up either. I’m looking for another office to perform my surgery now because I do not feel safe with the continued lack of professionalism by supposed medical professionals. If you see this please FIRE GREGORY.

I recently saw Dr. Choi and his resident doctor for a wisdom teeth extraction consultation. Scheduling was very straightforward and only required a referral from my dentist. They did an x-ray in office and clearly explained the process. The only thing is that my appointment felt quite rushed, but everyone did a good job answering my questions and concerns.

This office sucks at communication. I had an oral surgery scheduled on the calendar for 2 months, and then was told a week beforehand I’d have to reschedule it with no reason as to why, and no consideration for the time I had already gotten off work, or the people coming into town to be my chaperone/observer. Nobody from the office ever contacted me post operation for any kind of review or check-in which I find completely unacceptable. In addition, the post op instructions were lacking. I ended up using the internet to find better post op instructions from other practices as their 2.5 page sheet was didn’t include important information for my recovery.

Dr. McCain is a sharp physician with impressive attention to detail. Not only did he fix my jaw to the best of his ability, he also caught an underlying and sinister autoimmune disease that I had no idea I had. Honestly he probably saved my life down the line in the most serendipitous way. Weird how a dislocated jaw led to an autoimmune diagnosis but hey, thanks Dr. McCain!
