CareNow Urgent Care - San Marcos Wonder World Drive

The nurse practitioner and the young man behind the counter in the lobby, we're a phenomenal help to me. I tried to do my intake paperwork at home and that caused me to be late for the automatic scheduled appointment. I arrived maybe a minute to 2 minutes late. I was told promptly by a young woman that my paperwork was not completed and I had to complete that before they would see me. So I completed the paperwork and checked on my wait time and it was only about ten or fifteen minutes. after about twenty minutes, I checked the portal with the wait time and it said I no longer had an appointment. I wound up waiting 2 and 1/2 hours. I watched as walk-in clients went ahead of me. Iam not sure what happened.However, the nurse practitioner was very professional and apologized for my wait time.

I took my son in a few weeks ago because he was really sick. He had a fever, running nose, upset stomach, coughing fits, and sneezing. The receptionist there was nice but Dr. Metcalf and the other doctor just said it's a cold with allergies and a little fluid in his left ear. Well, my son passed on his illness to my mom and then passed it to me. I went to my own doctor just yesterday and she found that I was positive for Influenza b virus and took a steroid shot. So, shame on the doctors for misdiagnosing my son. You seriously either need to educate these doctors or find new doctors who knows their research inside and out. I'm never going to go back there ever again with my son.

BCBS has a huge deductible here. The wait time was a little ridiculous considering there weren’t many patients needing to be seen, noting there were some issues with their computers and registration. Once seen by the nurse it took another 30 minutes to be seen by a doctor. I was there for a total of almost 2hrs, there were only 2 other people waiting with me when I got there, and they both were taken care of and left before I was even called back to be seen. Staff was nice but definitely did not feel “urgent.”

This was one of those places where they were super reluctant/weird about prescribing you anything. I came here with really bad allergy issues/asthma and they refused to give me a steroid shot, something I’ve never had any issue with at other places. The doctor was nice but inadequate/feeble. He basically told me shower more/to go take Nasopro. I had an ear infection as well from the terrible allergies and he told me to just wait it out/flush my ears better. I left paying money while getting no help. Most people come to urgent care because they need quick solutions, not life advice for things you are already doing.

This is my second time visiting this location and I cannot express how happy I have been both times. The receptionist, Sophia I believe, was very helpful and made sure to walk me through the process. The medical team was quick and efficient. Overall, great experience!
