The Orchards at Big Rapids

This facility is dangerously understaffed, poorly managed, and negligent. While I want to acknowledge that many of the nurses and aides themselves were kind and tried to help, they were clearly overwhelmed and unsupported by management. The staffing situation was so inadequate that it directly affected patient safety. My mother was left waiting over an hour when she needed help to use the restroom. As a result of the neglect, she developed a bed sore. Her medications were mishandled, which is completely unacceptable in a skilled nursing environment. We were told that my mother was admitted specifically to receive physical therapy. Shockingly, she never saw an actual physical therapist in person until her final day, and she went her entire stay without a single. Getting anything done req

I photographed a special resident event here and loved the experience. From the culinary staff, to the care team, it’s evident that the whole facility truly cares about its residents. The warmth I felt in the building, was similar to attending a huge family Christmas gathering. Would definitely recommend!

We dreaded the day we would have to put our Granny in long-term care, but that day came and it was a whirlwind. After landing in the hospital, we had 2 days to choose between 3 places. Everyone we talked to had nothing but good to say about The Orchard's. After a few phone calls and family chats, we moved her in. Best choice we could have made. They treat the residents like family. Everyone is so kind and attentive. We can rest easy knowing Granny is happy and safe. 10/10 recommend!!

The Orchards is an amazing place all the way around. The staff is knowledgeable, caring, dedicated and feel like family. I always hear such wonderful things said about The Orchards of Big Rapids. You can truly tell the staff love what they do and their patients.

A friend's mother chose The Orchards of Big Rapids for her post surgical stay in order to recover and regain strength before going back to her own home. She and her family were so impressed with her speedy recovery, her praise of the meals she received, and the kind and patient nursing staff who took care of her (even when she was not in the best of moods). My friend has since mentioned that her mom "made a friend" while attending their Bingo night activities. They continue to write letters (can't hear on the phone) and my friend's mom seems comfortable considering The Orchards as her last home. I've worked in LTC facilities in the past, and know recognition is seldom expressed... but I just wanted all of your staff to know that what they do is appreciated. She had a great experience
