San Antonio Military Medical Center Emergency Room

Fear of legal issues is interfering with the ability to be forthright. The nurse hotline told me to go here. The first person I saw after triage made me feel I was wasting resources and I let them know that I came in because the nurse hotline sent me. If he hadn’t stuck a port in my arm while telling me that, I would’ve left then. I spent 5 and a half hours there (I’m sure triage put me last on the list and for good reason)I came out with a clean bill of health. And then another person talked with me about when it’s appropriate to be there and when it is not. At first I was super frustrated, after all, the nurse had sent me there. But I’ve looked up info on the situation. From what I’ve read, all nurse hotlines heavily err on the side of caution and will likely send you even if it’s not

Was sent here after amputating my fingertip. There’s a lot to say, but long story short I’m really glad I went to get a second opinion at the University ER after the hand specialist here was done with me. It might really suck and you might have to wait in a freezing waiting room from 11pm to 7am after already getting charged thousands for a previous doctor - but when it’s something important, ALWAYS go get a second opinion.

Worst pharmacy ever! Waited in the room for 2 hours after the doctor prescribed medication. Then had to wait another 2 hours to get another prescription before we left. Staff sitting around doing absolutely nothing and wont even update you on how long the wait will be.

i received top notch, compassionate, professional care in the emergency room and on the 4E burn unit. can’t shout out all the staff enough, from house keeping to the surgeons and EVERYTHING!!!! in between. teamwork makes the dream work. i’m blessed and privileged to be taken care of by the dedicated staff there.

Wanted to take a minute to recognize BAMC ER team. I got the best care for my broken ankle. From check in to nursing staff (Nick so nice) and Lisa who very gently rolled me to my car, and can't forget about xray team..speed. My ER doctors Dr. Carr and Dr. Walton were super efficient, very kind to me, addressed my pain which was off the charts. I think they stayed after their shift to make sure I was all squared away. My Ortho pro was Dr. Wyatt Smith and I would trust him and the rest of the team with my life. They all walked me through the plan, expectations, answered all my questions and were all normal nice people who genuinely seemed to care about me. I was hesitant to go to ER, but so glad I did, because they saved my ankle from needing a surgery-- hallelujah and thank you BAMC/
