Safeway Pharmacy

Safeway pharmacies often have excellent prices if you use the GoodRx card. I think other discount cards also have good Safeway discounts. Unfortunately, sometimes they don’t have as much in stock as a large pharmacy does, but if they don’t, they can get it.

As a physician, I’m acutely aware of the increasing pressures pharmacies face today, especially with the growing influence of large corporate interests that often prioritize profits over patient care. That’s why I’ve been so impressed with the exceptional service at the Safeway Pharmacy in Albany. The pharmacists—Audrey and Allen—consistently go above and beyond for their patients. Their professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail stand out, even in a busy environment. I’ve seen them take extra time to explain medications, answer questions, and help patients navigate insurance issues—not just with me, but with others while I’ve waited in line. These people are great. I want to gate keep them they are so nice. I went there needing antibiotics for my son, the doctor had just called it in and left the message on the wrong line. The tech helped to pull up the prescription, and took the discount and the pharmacist promptly filled the prescription. Compare this to the nightmare that is CVA or Walgreens, it is night and day. I was in a real pharmacy dealing with real people who were doing their best to help me and my son get his medication. They were nice and patient and fast. Like a small town pharmacy in a big town Safeway. Wow!

Hours that Google shows Pharmacy is open cannot be relied upon. Phoning Safeway Corporate is no help. Safeway IT is not up to the task. And impossible to manage Rxs through response to texts.

This has been our pharmacy since our independent pharmacist retired and selected Safeway in Albany to send his clients. They have given us excellent service, calling to advise when there are delays and always accommodating and helpful. It is sad to see the errors of perhaps one employee used as the reason to reject the entire hardworking staff.
