High Street Pharmacy

I used to love this pharmacy but then they stopped being able to order my medication & didn’t really communicate well about that. For many months, they kept saying they think they’d get some soon, but they never followed up about it & when I’d call about it they alternated between vaguely encouraging and succinctly unhelpful. I wish I’d known sooner that they had stopped considering me a customer so I could have found a different place sooner.

I’ve been living in Oakland for two and a half years now, and High Street Pharmacy has been my community favorite place. Everyone there is kind and helpful, and my numerous prescriptions are always delivered to my door. They go out of their way to help relieve their customers’ suffering.

Echoing another review — have been going here for years. Recently have had some challenging experiences with staff which makes me wonder if there was a change recently that impacted how they are showing up. Tried to understand what my options were to get my prescription filled since they’re out of my medication. The person I spoke to seemed very rushed and very short with m. I was unable to ask a follow up question. Another time my prescription cost was way higher than usual and it was because it was name brand. I basically had to pay for it and just accept it because it’s challenging to go without my meds even for a day. I wish they had given me a heads up and been more helpful than just telling me I could choose to not pay and call my insurance.

I picked up my usual prescription yesterday from them. Today I went to start taking it and noticed they had given me the wrong meds! The printed label generated by the pharmacy was the correct medication, but the actual medication was not correct. The pharmacist I spoke to today didn’t apologize or seem to understand the gravity of the situation, just that she would mention it to the owners. I know pharmacists are human and can make mistakes, but it was the lack of alarm and apology that rattled me.

I love this pharmacy- it's a neighborhood gem! They always have everything i need, good prices, fast and friendly. It always smells lovely in there and is great spot for grabbing a last min gift. They even have 5 - 25 cent pieces of candy, just like the rural drugstore when i was a little kid. They even deliver- though im lucky to live a short walk away.
