Hearing Zone

I had a great experience getting my audiograph & tympanogram done at Hearing Zone. Dr. Ray is great and made me feel comfortable as I had the tests done. Their dog Raven is precious & it was so nice to have a dog with me in my appointment!! The folks in the waiting room seemed to be really at home there. One thing unrelated to the quality of medical care but to patient comfort—the person at the front desk misgendered my partner and I several times and didn’t use the chosen name that I had on file when I walked in. They seem kind but also completely unpracticed in interacting with trans people— hoping they improve on this for future trans patients. Still overall great experience & highly recommend Hearing Zone!

Dr. Ray is a terrific audiologist! He really knows his field and explains things clearly. He's responsive, super-patient, and really listens. I've had regular hearing exams for twenty years and worn hearing aids for ten of them--and Dr. Ray is far and away the best I've encountered in this field. Hearing is a crucial element in quality of life for me, and I'm delighted with the care I've received from Hearing Zone!

Incredibly friendly, great customer service, affordable. I called this morning and they were able to see me and my boyfriend together this afternoon for an ear cleaning. We had a good time talking with Dr. Thakkar and learning about our ears - such a good time that I didn’t want to leave ;-). Highly recommend for friendly and affordable ear “things”.

I came here to get my custom fitted earplugs. The staff was very welcoming and happy to answer my questions. The doctor was kind and made me feel comfortable. He is a musician and also speaks Japanese, like me! The atmosphere was one I enjoyed. I recommend.

So impressed with this place and these people. Dr. Thakkar is very knowledgeable and straightforward when explaining anything. Myra (sorry if I misspelled that) is a truly delightful person and always goes the extra mile. Bonuses: the office is in a nice part of town, has beautiful paintings on the walls, and is open on Saturdays. Highly recommend for anyone in the Bay Area — even if you live outside of Oakland, if you’re looking for an audiology practice you’ll love, the Hearing Zone is worth a drive.
