Gentle Dental Care of Rochester

My first appointment went well, and I was informed that I needed to schedule another appointment to fill my cavity. However, when I informed the front office about this, they didn’t schedule the appointment for me. I left the appointment and they called me, informing me that I needed to schedule it. I did so over the phone while driving in a snowstorm! When my appointment finally came, I was severely ill. Who goes to their dentist appointment while sick? I couldn’t breathe out of my nose. When I called to reschedule, they informed me that I needed to let them know 48 hours in advance. Okay, understandable. So, I asked if I could call back and schedule another time. Dr. Faith Botana is the best! I went for a general check up because I switched insurances. Found Gentle Dental on my insurance’s provider directory. All of the staff were really nice: front desk, dental assistants, dentists. Dr. Botana and the dental assistant (whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch) were both very good at explaining what they were going to do before actually doing it - great bedside manners. Dr. Botana even took the time to thoroughly go over my x-rays and scans just to show me what was going on, what she thought about my teeth, and to tell me the “why” behind what she did during the appointment. Great place to seek dental care.

If you can avoid this office, you should. If you can’t avoid it because it’s the only place that takes your insurance, proceed with caution and make sure to advocate for yourself and ask as many questions as possible. I came in for my first cleaning around January of 2025. The dentist marked I had a couple of small cavities but told me we would “keep an eye on them” and see if they decrease or at least don’t grow much over the following few months. (Not how cavities work by the way but sadly I trusted him). I go back for my follow up cleaning 6 months later, beginning of July 2025. He then tells me the cavity has gotten worse and that I need to come in for a filling. He scheduled the filling for the following week. I went and got my first ever filling today. Having severe anxiety, the Doctor and hygenists were so friendly and patient with me and made me feel more comfortable, very thorough with explaining the procedure and process. Very clean, and friendly office staff. Definitely recommend this office!
