Costco Pharmacy

Always sucks , don’t know why pharmacy takes 1 hour for preparing prescription medicine. You just grab medicine pack it and deliver it . It should not take more than 5 or 10 minutes max. I was told medicine would be ready in 45 minutes and then asked to wait for another 15 minutes. They simply don’t care about other people’s time. Probably they want me to shop more at stores meanwhile 😀

This is the best pharmacy that I’ve used in the area (compared to CVS / target cvs and Walgreens, etc.) There’s never a huge line and there’s always someone to help you. They just extended their hours starting to open at 9 AM which is great. Their pharmacists are friendly and good- explaining things well and engaging. Cindy even remembered my daughter from earlier in the week and asked how she was doing which was pleasantly surprising. I go here a lot and it feels like a local pharmacy even though its Costco. I’ve found the techs are efficient, communicative and friendly which has become rare in the Bay Area.

I was told my prescription would take 30 minutes. I waited around so I wouldn’t have to come back later in the day, but it was cutting close as I had other appointments to make. After waiting 30 minutes, I arrived at the counter and she told me it was going to be another 20 minutes. I told her that I couldn’t wait but that it was a pre-package box of medication for my dog if she could grab itShe said that she couldn’t help me and that I would have to wait another 20 minutes so I had to leave my basket of items. I wish that they had told me it was going to be almost an hour. I planned my schedule based off what they had told me. I would’ve just left and come back later that day. They wasted my time.

In comparison to most pharmacies, the wait to pick up my prescription here is usually less than 5 minutes. Whenever I go to another pharmacy that starts with W, I have to wait at least 10 minutes either at the drive-through or inside the pharmacy. Just for that and the fact that they have my prescription ready when they say it is, and the price being between 1/2 and 1/10 what I would pay at W, this gets 5 stars.

This used to be a reasonably competent operation, but in the past year they've fallen down w/r/t ordering prescriptions. My medications are generics, but they still have trouble filling them in less than three days. Recently, the web interface has changed and current prescriptions became hidden and un-orderable. This week, requested refills were flagged as unfillable because they were "already in process", while the main menu shows I have no orders queued. I have no idea how they could screw this up so completely, but they've managed to do so. Now it looks like I'll be heading over to the pharmacy in person, where I suspect they'll refer me to their tech support team. Yay.
