At Berkeley Deep Sport Massage, the practitioners are professionals- the kind who could be contracted to travel with a sports franchise, but are working here. I have had 3 treatments (with Adam). All have increased my range of movement and decreased my pain levels. One treatment was maybe too much for me because I am not used to it and I need a little bit at a time until my body adjusts. Just doing the exercises from my PT is maybe enough therapy but this deep sports massage is a real boost to the healing process, so I will keep going.
I didn’t like Aida’s massage. I went to her for a back issue and she massaged everywhere but not my back. She kept saying come once a week and I paid her $10 tip she was keep asking for 20 to 30%. I like Berkeley sports massage and had a great experience with that one old Asian guy but Aida not again.
I have chronic knee issues, and after my most recent flare up was unable to run or bend my knee deeply for months. After one session with Aida, I was able to (slowly, cautiously) jog half a mile and had noticeably increased range of motion on the knee. Getting bodywork hurts like the dickens and is really intense (be prepared to speak up if something feels like too much), but it works. Highly recommended.
Pros and cons. Pros: Massage was *very* good - Aida - I will definitely be back. Solid pain relief. Clothed, which I like, wear soft leggings/tank top. A couple cons: The lighting is just AWFUL. Super bright annoying overhead light glaring at you while you are on your back. That should be an easy fix. The pillows, for under legs, or if on your side, are also terrible and should be functional for massage, not cheap airbnb. Also easy fix. Windowless room also a bit off putting but that not an easy fix. The vibe could be made better.
I’m from New York and would always book a session here every time I’m in the Bay. This time was with Aida, and she was incredible and also the sweetest. Very highly trained and highly skilled, knows a lot about the body and where to put pressure. I’m a runner with knee and plantar fasciitis issues, and they were immediately relieved after our session.
