Alexandria VA Medical Center

Been going here 20+ years and not much has changed. You have to be very persistent in order to make any progress with treatment. They offer transportation but the trick is getting someone to answer the phone. You can leave a message giving the details of your appointment and there is about a 50% chance your ride will be scheduled. I've meet people who are attentive, helpful, and compassionate and, at best, saved me from losing a limb. But usually most of my medical and mental health problems go on unaddressed. Basically getting help here is like pulling teeth.

From one veteran to another veteran, I'd rather die alone at home than ever set foot in this VA campus ever again. This campus has failed me multiple times when I honestly needed medical help. My dogs gets better care at the veterinarians office than a Veteran will get at this campus.

I have had them go above and beyond to help me out. Are things perfect...nope, but im not sure anywhere you go for medical care is perfect. My only complaint is that the employees park in the front and take the closer parking spots that SHOULD be for the veterans.

Remember to complete your travel reimbursement. Ask which building your appointment is in, there are many and may be an uncomfortable walk if you aren’t near the building you are looking for.
