I wanted to take a few minutes to commend an amazing staff at the VA Urgent Care clinic in Altoona, PA. I only hope I can write enough or say what I want with the enthusiasm and praise that it truly deserves. On 7/20/2020, from the moment I walked in the door, all of the staff from desk to room were absolutely amazing. Very professional, very supportive, very knowledgeable and above all, very caring. Because of the distance I live from both, James E Van Zandt Medical Center and the nearest Community Based Outpatient Clinic, I was placed on the Community Care program as part of the Veterans Affairs MISSION ACT. The providers in my community I chose were approved by the VA and through the VA, appointments were made. After visiting a few of these appointments, I started getting calls from the providers stating that the VA was not going to be paying for my visits. The Robert E Van Zandt VA Medical Center terminated my enrollment without notification to myself, nor the providers. And, they have been sending my phone calls to voicemail without returning the calls. They're refusing all communication. Now, I am being billed thousands of dollars. Just got tested for Covid-19, as someone who administered the nasal swab in the past, I don’t think I ever broke the wooden cotton tip in someone’s nostril and said that it was normal.

I did some donations here this past month. It was a really nice place. When I walked in and told the ladies at the front desk where I needed to, one of ladies walked with my family to show us. Really nice staff!
