Urgent Care of Atascadero

Do NOT recommend. The doctor does not do her job. I went in sick and desperate on the Tuesday before thanksgiving, explained my symptoms and that I was just visiting family for the week. Asked for “anything that could help” or give me a boost, so I could enjoy the holiday. The doctor listened to my lungs and heart and that was it. Kept my mask on the entire time, no examination of my throat or anything other than listening to my heart and lungs. Was told I had the “common cold” and was only prescribed a cough suppressant. Throughout the thanksgiving holiday, everyone around me got sick. When I came home and saw my regular doctor, myself and my children all tested positive for the flu. Urgent Care facilities are in a difficult position. As is described in the name, most situations are “urgent” and patients and their caregivers are often at the end of their ropes when they arrive for care. I would like to thank Cherie(front desk) and Michael Blackwell for their always prompt, caring and supportive response and service. They have to professionally manage a litany of issues and a time when people are not at their best, and they always have done it (with us anyway) with empathy, compassion and respect. My wife and I highly recommend their services when you are ill.

Walked in to this clinic with an urgent appointment. The receptionist, a blonde gal, was super friendly, welcoming, and informative! She was the only redeeming quality of this place. It is immediately apparent that none of the other staff care about their patients. The medical assistant who prepped me for the clinician, Blackwell, was rude, demeaning, barked orders at me, and questioned if I was sure I filled out my paperwork correctly. As someone who has worked many years in a doctors office, I strive to be understanding but I was truly at a loss. The clinician made no attempt to show that he cared, didn’t ask any questions, or listen to my complaints. It was very evident that we were being shooed out the door. I showed up 30 minutes before they closed and got turned away because there was too many people in the waiting room. The reception person didn’t say a word to me when I came in, just stared at me until I said something. Then when I said I was extremely sick she said “I need to go ask if we can see you” then after about 5 minutes of listening to them all whisper in the back I got told I can come back in the morning. This place is and forever will be worthless. Clearly these people don’t actually care about patients, maybe change careers?

Walked into this place on the afternoon of 5/25 and was rudely told by the receptionist, “We’re closed, didn’t you see the sign on the door?” Ironically, the sign was blank to anyone facing the door with the closed side facing inside the lobby. Went to Carbon Health and was greeted by super friendly staff and received excellent care. Skip the rude receptionist at this place and go somewhere else.
