University of Kansas Health - Emergency Room

The wait was horrible, I waited 4 hours just to register before getting to the actual ER. Once in the ER I never saw a nurse until I was ready to leave. The only time I saw an APRN was when I first got there and when she told me the results. Which were changed the day after I left to a different result. It was not a good experience at all I was there for a total of 8 and 1/2 hours and got nothing really accomplished.

Came in two days after my spinal tap with a spinal leak headache. I had difficulty communicating with my head feeling like a balloon about to pop. The first nurse was incredibly nasty. She immediately assumed as soon as she saw me that I was a drug seeker. I tried to explain that my procedure is in MyChart. She didn't believe a word I said. She was physically grabbing my arms and just ripped my shirt over my head. It was humiliating. I would never use this ER again.

Staff can be nice. Wait times can be very long even for chest pain (somehow 4 hours). Had an ER doctor say that a problem is just "anxiety" days before having a stroke so coming to this ER is not always in your best interest!

Staff was nice and my wife was seen fairly quickly. We were in and out in about 3 hours. Only mark down was for the wait to be discharged.

Do not go here on the weekends. The ER doctor today was obviously less than concerned with my Father-in-law. He was in a car wreck a few months back. They did reconstructive surgery June 24. July 2 he had severe nose bleeding and the ER doctor was great. Today, his nose has been bleeding since yesterday and Dr Jacobsen wouldn't even give him an IV. She refused to do anything. Almost like she was mad at the world. He is back home now with his nose still bleeding. If he lives until Tomorrow I guess we take him back? If given a choice, go to Storemont-Vail. This place will never get my business.
