The Pearl of Elgin

I went to visit a long time friend who was one of my mentors. The facility smelled of both urine and poo. Residents waited over 2 hours to use the washroom. The rooms were tiny for 2 Residents plus all the equipment they needed. There was plenty of staff, but somehow it seemed their congregating among one another took priority over the people whose lives depend upon them. The facility was in need of renovation. It seemed like this was a factory of getting the people in and getting them out, but not necessarily to their homes, but a funeral home.

My mom is here and she loves it! She has made many new friends, she loves loves her nurses and her cna ‘s! She gets her nails done every week and the activities are always going on and the community loves it! They bowl, they play bingo they plant flowers have a real cute center outdoor garden and I feel my mom is very safe and secure here. We are always welcome and they make us all feel like family. Highly recommended!

I am extremely impressed with this facility, the staff is beyond amazing and dedicated to help patients which is the most important thing. The facility is nice and organized, and staff is always there to assist and help. Highly recommend!

My dad was there, and the service was terrible.They have very little staff.Maybte it's okay for people who can still take care of themselves, but for people who really need help, like my dad, the service is awful.They shouldn't offer something they can't provide.If my dad hadn't needed special care, we wouldn't have had to leave him in a nursing home. Everything was terrible in those situation; there were people screaming for up to two hours.

My dad was there, and if it weren't for my family and me keeping a watchful eye on him, he wouldn't have received the necessary care. Even then, it was difficult to get him the attention he needed. But while we were there, we witnessed so many terrible situations. People who needed help, like my dad, would walk by shouting for assistance, and they were always told there was no staff. It was all very bad.
