Optum Urgent Care - Kingston

Care providers at Optum are all excellent. This rating reflects the difficulty with communication that appears to be due to rules set up by Optum. Optum does not allow patients direct communication with their PCP for illness. I am an established patient, and found out that Optum now requires an appointment for any contact. I tried to get an appointment, but would have had to wait one month. This is not appropriate for treatment of a sudden illness. Instead, I had to go to Urgent Care, and was told that my PCP will not communicate results of this visit to me, thus hindering any ongoing care. The system is not set up for patient care. The providers at Optum are very good, but I imagine many will not stay long. They are stressed, overworked and burdened by an unyielding system.

This place is active in fraudulent billing. They will bill an urgent care visit as "routine", send the bill to Quest, and you will be asked to pay out of pocket no matter if you have Medicare, plus supplemental insurance. Stay away I took them to small claims court and won

I am always so pleased when Dr. Catapano is the one who is going to be handling my care. He is understanding and so knowledgeable and always prescribes something that effectively treats my condition immediately. This is the best urgent care around. You always see a doctor not just a PA. It’s the best and so is it this doctor?

Had a positive experience here. Despite the 25 minute wait in an empty waiting room, the nurse and Dr were extremely thorough and warm and respectful. I felt heard and treated as an intelligent partner in my healthcare. Prescription phoned in ASAP .

I went to urgent care (covered by insurance) last month. The provider (who was perfectly nice) suggested a COVID-19 test. My insurance was billed $597 for the common nose swab test that can be purchased at CVS for $10. They are now charging me $300 for the test. If I ever have to go back, I would be very cautious about what care I accept because the billing is completely detached from reality. *Update - from this review the company reached out to discuss further. I filled out the complaint form and detailed my experience and have had no response from them, weeks later and nothing.
