MedStar Health: Urgent Care in Waldorf at Shoppers World

I usually go to the other Waldorf location for my urgent care needs but due to an error, I ended up at the location off of Crain Highway. And not mad that I did. The service was excellent! The young lady who checked me in was very pleasant and since I had an appointment, I didn’t have to wait long at all. In fact, once I was checked in and paid my copay, I was being called within the next 10 minutes. The triage nurse was also pleasant. I was being seen for the removal of my stitches from a head injury. So I was a little nervous of what to expect. Dr. Akpofure-Harris took excellent care of me! She was gentle and informative of everything she was doing. She assured me the sutures were done perfectly and my skin was healing beautifully. Not really interested in returning. I made an appt/reserved a spot. I arrived and the initial young lady that helped me was nice. I had surgery so I had to sit down. After wsiting al.ost 40 minutes they called me up to pay my copay. I asked my husband to take it up for me but I also asked him to confirm with the young lady my accurate copay of $15. He did, and she said, "no, it's $35." I politely told her that wasn't correct. She ran a report and it clearly stated $15. She still charged me $35 and said Medstar likes to charge the higher amount and if its incorrect they will send me a check. I was very frustrated with her. I told her we have new cards that haven't come yet but I logged into my carefirst account and showed her my current card. She didn't want to hear what I had to say

My experience was pleasant. The staff was professional and courteous. The wait was not excessive but could be reduced. The medical staff seemed knowledgeable. The vitals were taken by one person and I was then placed in a treatment room where most of the wait took place. Another person came in whom I assumed was a nurse who gave me Tylenol, then left to check on something else and never returned. After another waiting period the doctor finally came in asked most of the same questions the tech or nursing assistant had asked. She then listen to my heart and respiration, checked ears, throat and gave a diagnosis. She left again, there was a significant waiting period. Finally came back with the discharge instructions and paperwork. Again , my only concern was the two hours from walk in to

My experience today at the MedStar Urgent Care Clinic in Waldorf was excellent from beginning to end. The sign-in process was seemless and efficient. The wait time starting with the check-in to the taking of vitals to the exam room was very short. The Dr was professional, knowledgeable and appropriately prescribed medication specific to my symptoms. At this writing, my meds have already brought me relief. Thank you MedStar for the excellent facility and each staff encounter with my medical care was phenomenal. This was my second visit and it was better then the first time.

I walked in and the young lady (I wish I had gotten her name but I was so sick) welcomed me with a smile, soothing caring voice all while being professional as she guided me through the check in process! The staff from the young lady who took my vitals/test to the doctor who closed me out were nothing but AMAZING! This was my first time visiting and due to the entire staff being friendly, caring, professional, knowledgeable, competent and patient, I will most definitely will visit them again but praying no time soon lol
