Kindred Hospital Seattle - First Hill

My father was sent here to recover after both a lung drainage surgery along with a heart bypass surgery. We were told this facility specialized in the care that he would need, and that the intention for transferring him here was so he’d be able to get stronger. The complete opposite of that happened. My dad went in being able to walk multiple times a day to bed bound in less than 2 weeks. My first visit after 4 days, he’d looked like they hadn’t bathed him since transferring. He had soiled himself and it took 45 minutes for anyone to ask him if he’d liked to be cleaned. My next visit, someone had cut him whilst shaving the day before, and left dried blood all over his neck. Very caring, professional health care workers. RN Lamin is very sensitive to the needs of our family member (patient). He speaks TO her, not over her. He answers our questions with respect. RRT Ken, is fantastic!! Caring, professional, knowledgeable. Makes extra effort to reassure the family without being patronizing. You have a gem in this person!!!

After surgery at UW Medical Center at Monlake, I was transferred to Kindred Hospital to continue my recovery. The staff was terrific. The food and beds were considerably better than that of UW’s. Nurses Harmeet and Agatha were always kind and professional. Drawing my blood can be difficult. And I hated getting poked. Josephine and Natalia nailed it the first time, every time. And Anna from housekeep was always a delight to chat with. The PT and OT ladies were very helpful. The building was in need of some paint. But don’t let that fool you. I recommend Kindred because of their top-notch staff. The food and beds were an extra bonus.

My brother, 56 yrs, was sent to this hospital by insurance. He had multiple health issues that needed specialized care and treatment. My sister in law, his wife was told this was the only hospital that would provide care for his needs, tracheotomy with ventilation and dialysis. The care he was receiving was such a concern, my sister in law, asked for help from anyone who could be there during visiting hours. His call button would be ignored for times up to 45 minutes. The nurses would be at their desks on their phones. I live in Vermont and was so concerned about his care, I flew to be with him for 17 days.
