Frederick M. Cahan, MD, LLC

I NEVER write reviews here, but I can tell you that Dr. Cahan is a fine doctor. My daughter went to the hospital two weeks ago and had emergency surgery (Lurie) and he called several times for updates and spoke to the surgeon there. We've had his practice as pediatricians since day one (three children).Yes he has quirks (I believe the previous review) but he is so completely competent and experienced I won't believe you'd find a better practice.

My daughters are 13 and 15 and Dr. Cahan has been an excellent pediatrician. He is very straightforward which may or may not work with some personality types but as far as his knowledge of medicine, children and how to treat them I could not have hoped for a better doctor for my girls. He has even talked my husband and I through a few stressful moments in the middle of the night when our daughter had croup. I cannot say enough about the quality of healthcare we received from dr. Cahan and everyone in his group.

I had the displeasure of being exposed to Dr. Cahan with my first child (Dr. Weinstein was her doctor but whenever there was an emergency I got stuck with Dr. Cahan). He was so rude that one time l almost didn't call because I feared he'd be the one on call. After Dr. Cahan rudely chastised me for not calling during office hours (she wasn't having difficulty breathing then) he told me to take her to the ER. Her oxygenation level was dangerously low and they admitted her (7 months old). The nurses at Northwestern say he's rude and condescending and they call him Dr. Gucci behind his back. After too many times having to deal with him I switched to another practice. Best decision I ever made.

Very unprofessional office staff members that will hang up on you if you ask too many questions. Please be aware that this office is operating under a very archaic medical record system. None of their records are electronic and a patient will not only be charged for every sheet of paper copied, but will also have to drive to the office to pick up the copies of the medical records. I am so glad my doctor is no longer a part of this practice.
