Due to a medical complication, I needed to find an alternative way to drive. In my research, I spoke to the owner of an adaptive driving school on the north shore who highly recommended Jackie from Embrace Mobility. I am so grateful for his advice. Jackie is excellent at what she does. She is very detail oriented in her assessment while giving fair and honest feedback in a kind but direct manner. She caught onto many small details that have been helpful in my dad’s diagnostic process as well as well as recommendations and resources outside of driving. My father was allowed the opportunity to attempt driving to build insight and she stayed very calm behind the wheel while providing constructive feedback for him to attempt to recorrect his errors. You can truly see the effort she puts into preserving dignity and independence while considering safety. Jackie was calming and relaxed. As I have an amputation on my right leg, it has severely stopped my driving. When I met with her, she did an assessment of me for driving with handicap hand instruments in her training vehicle. She was calm and gave very clear and understandable instructions on the use of them. She took me to an empty parking area and I practiced for approximately 30 minutes. Then asked if I was ready to attempt trying on the main roads. Again, she was calm and relaxed. We headed out. I felt that it was definitely challenging, but was also relaxed to be able to adjust.
