My L5 was herniated severely bad causing major sciatic nerve pain. I was unable to walk , sit or stand for almost 2 months. I called Dr. Drew Albert’s office after reaching out to over 7 neurosurgeons in Georgia for lumbar disc replacement consults. I clearly explained upfront that my insurance does not cover this procedure and that I would be self-pay. On top of that, the wait time just to speak with someone and inquire about scheduling a new patient appointment was unusually long, which was frustrating from the start. Despite explaining my situation, the woman on the phone told me it was their “office policy” that I must go somewhere my insurance covers the procedure. I was essentially denied even the opportunity to schedule a consultation or receive any information about seeing the doctor. This was extremely frustrating. As a patient willing to pay out of pocket for specialized care, I expected at least t
