Doheny Eye Center UCLA Arcadia

I brought my 86 year old mom to her appointment only to find out we were a day early. But we were lucky they were able to squeeze us in. My mom was going to get her cataracts operation checked and the surgery was done over 5 years ago. The surgery was a success! We won’t need to revisit for that reason , but we will be going to return once a year for general eye health. Thank you again for taking my mom today. We had practically no waiting.

Love Doheny! I had a detached retina, twice. First I saw Dr Kirk Hou who was AMAZING! Very through, committed and so kind. He had me in the operating room that day! I would recommend him to anyone with retina issues! Then, after healing from retina surgeries, I saw Dr Judy Chen. She too was AMAZING! She did my cataract surgeries and she was very informative, caring and skilled! Thank you to all the staff at Doheny in Arcadia and Pasadena. Also, thanks to UCLA at the Jules Eye Institute in Westwood! 🩷

Not impressed with the eye doctor i saw here. The technician did all the prep work and even spoke more and give me more advice. Then came Dr. Lu who doesnt speak a whole lot, doesnt address any of my concern. I would say he is not personable or show much care at all. Only used the bright infrared light to scan the retinal, a 5 seconds job and said retinal looks good, come back in a year. Any eye doctor can do the same. Why this eye doctor? If it is not my PCP who recommended this facility which is 35 miles away from my home, I could easily googled good eye doctors in my area or vicnity. I do not recommend Dr Lu nor recommend this facility. There are many very good eye centers in Los Angeles I have seen over the year. This facility is a no-no.

Even with an appointment, be prepared to wait hours to be seen. They are one of "those" practices that practice over-booking to make sure they get your insurances' worth.

Hopefully I have the right ophthalmologist who can really treat me.😶
