Cape Fear Valley Betsy Johnson Hospital

I was seen in the ER two nights ago. It was extremely busy. I checked in at 8:15 and walked out at 2:15 in the morning. Being a retired nurse, I understand how the emergency room runs. A lot of times it's just not a cut and dry problem. The physician that I saw, Dr Hudson was wonderful, and had a great bedside manner. The nursing staff was tremendous as well. Bedside manners were above and beyond with the entire staff there right down to the check-in desk.

Came into the hospital with an a ingroni. Hernia found out I had 3 hernias, not one. And instead of them doing anything about it, they're giving me some low-dose of drugs and sending me home instead of fixing the problem that I've had for 6 years, almost like they are intimidated of the surgery or just intimidated over being a hospital, would not recommend , 10 out of 10 sucks , what a solid waste of time. I hope the people coming in on helicopters and ambulances get better results. Do not waste your time here they are a glorified express care. That is it. This is not a hospital. It's basically a 711 where the big first aid kit and no gas.

On Friday evening, I developed the worst migraine headache that I had ever experienced. My vision was distorted, which does not usually occur, so when the pain continued to worsen later Fiday night, we decided to seek help and my husband took me to BJH ER. Noise and lights were extremely painful. I already have balance issues and that was also exacerbated. I was in so much pain from the headache that I was basically hardly able to communicate. I really don't remember much. The staff seemed nice enough. I was offered a wheelchair by someone. The triage nurse helped me to the restroom because my stomach was upset. Then I was asked to give a urine sample, which I could not do since I had just been to the bathroom, but I was unable to coherently ask for water. I think she thought

I honestly shouldn’t even give a star… but I was seen October 1st to get a blood transfusion, I assumed Betsy Johnson could do it but was told by Brian Lackey Nurse Practitioner rudely told us that I needed to be transferred to CapeFear Valley hospital by ems, me and my husband told him we couldn’t afford that even with insurance and that we could just go straight there, he comes back and tells us we wouldn’t be charged. I waited an hr for cape fear valley ems to come pick me up from Betsy. Finally got what I needed at cape fear and came home a day after. A week later I received a bill in the mail from Cumberland ems that I am absolutely not paying. I am still waiting for administrative leadership to review my complaint through patient relations. I have received several letters in the mail

Although I've been previously impressed by the outpatient care I have received at BJH. This ED experience was horrendous! I say for 3.5 hours in the lobby after the Triage merely took my vitals and never really looked at or examined me. I watched the lobby empty out twice, people who came after me came & went. I was sitting alone in so much pain, finally after a dismissive answer to how long it would be, I waited another 30 minutes. Then left. Went to an Urgent Care. I have shingles in my eye, nose, throat, ear, and the entire left side of my head. Potentially could have been quite dangerous if I hadn't gotten the medicine. I will never every return to the BJH ED. I will continue the care I receive else where at this hospital. But as far as ED, I'll drive to Lillington.
