Baylor Scott & White Urgent Care - Austin North Burnet

I've been going to Scott & White for just shy of 20 years after I got let go and after my IBM sponsored COBRA insurance ran out and I had to get health insurance on my own. They were starting to come into Austin area though initially I travelled to the Hutto clinic as there weren't yet many locations in Austin; eventually went to clinic on 620 (that's moved up by Sam's club on N. Lakecreek Pkwy since). I also worked at IBM, and have been a member of the credit union for over 40 years, starting when it was in trailers on-site (after they vacated the trailers they moved to Brockton; I briefly worked in one of the trailers that the Credit Union used to be in. Steer clear of this location unless you want to attend a circus. Very poorly run office. A family member was invited to participate in a trial study only available at this location. She was told to stop by anytime the clinic is open and they would get her in for a quick blood draw. They specifically said "no appointment necessary". The first time she stopped by, no one at the front desk knew anything about the trial study and eventually was told that she needs to show up earlier in the day for the blood draw. She returns a few days later, well within the timeframe she was told, only to be turned away a second time because the person who performs this blood draw left early for the day. I came in saying I had a headache after falling on ice in January 2026. The people working there took a long time to process me. Which was awesome to deal with head splitting migraine. Then after 30 minutes I was led to the triage area. This was the magical place where the nurses said they didn’t have the equipment to determine if I had a head injury and then they proceeded to try and upsell me Covid tests that had nothing to do with my headache and fall (the original reason I came in). So if your goal is to get tricked into buying useless medical tests to inflate the budget of this bullshit urgent care then this is the place to go in north Austin!

I may have been lucky since I was the only one there on a Friday at 6:30pm on a Friday. But my treatment for a deep cut from cooking, which required a tourniquet and cauterizing, was quick, effective, and they were clearly knowledgeable and prepared. Hard to ask much better from an urgent care.

I was in excruciating pain and waited. Three hours to be seen just so the nurse practitioner can tell me I don’t know how to help you. She literally saw me within less than 10 minutes and told me to see my primary care doctor b/c she couldn’t help! I left in tears and I will never be back to any Baylor Scott and White office. I paid a chunk of money just to not be helped and waste my damn time.
