Barre Gardens

My mother Patricia H. is a resident at Barre Gardens. My is 88.5 yrs old. She has severe dementia and a severe traumatic brain injury. I must say, I didn't know what to expect. My mother is the Vermonter, but, we grew up 25 minutes from from Boston and educated there. Mom is a challenging resident. In fact, no other places would take mom due to her medical records. Mom, in her prime, was a sophisticated, elegant, smart woman. BG has been the same. They have entertainment, music, bingo and a most dedicated and talented staff, who are compassionate. A rare breed of people,but, that the Vermont way. Putting a parent in a home like this is recommended. I'm a son, a lawyer and a POA, who is emotionally involved. My Dad has been at Barre Gardens for 7 months now. He has adjusted very well and has received excellent care. I appreciate the attention the nurses and staff give him every day. He seems very content with his surroundings.

Due to a significant fall my mom had to leave her home in Connecticut and come to Vermont for a brief period of rehabilitation to be closer to her family. She was able to discharge home with me but unfortunately had another set back and Barre Gardens stepped in and welcomed her back with open arms for long-term care. They are a wonderful facility.

My mom recently had some health issues where she is no longer mentally or physically able to take care of herself. She was released from the ER to Barre Gardens. I live out of state and was very concerned about the care she would receive the staff/people that would be working with her and how her day to day life would be. I have worked with several nurses, a social worker and so far, I have been very pleased. The staff seem to care and are able to answer my questions. My mom has had no complaints. The social worker has been spending personal time trying to help me with a power of attorney and sort other issues. I had a chance to visit the facility a few weeks ago and the staff was incredibly kind and very patient when dealing with my mom, the checked on her regularly and ensured she

My mom just left there after being there for awhile and when she first went there she didn’t wanna go there but after this experience she is very happy with there care and she is doing so great thanks to their care and helping her like they have ! My family is very thankful for everyone there that has helped her . She is doing so great now and we are all so happy . She told me that she spent her last day there getting hugs from all the staff and some others and they hated to see her leaving yet happy she is doing so well . My mom said she would definitely go back there if she ever needs to and she is going to miss some of them now . She talked about them all as if they were flawless in the way they treated her and that makes my family so happy cause most of the time we only hear negative s
