My Dad is at Baldwin House Grand Rapids 28th St. And Kalamazoo Ave. We have multiple family members and friends visit him weekly. The cleanliness of the facility inside and out is great. The maintenance staff resolves issues timely and effectively. We know of no insect issues not for any of my dad's new found resident friends. Office staff is attentive, friendly and assist residents and paperwork and billing explained and worked on with resident sides by side. Advisacare 24/7 assistance and medical staff augments Baldwin House very nicely for those who need various levels of care.

The services promised in the contract were not honored. There is no in house medical transportation. The bus was only running across the street once a week for groceries or not at all because it was broken down. There is an high staff turn over at the Baldwin house. Basic cleaning needs seem to be neglected. The housekeepers are not cleaning rooms and leaving dirty floors. The elevators break and are not fixed for a few weeks. The renovations that were verbally promised were pushed back. I would not recommend going to The Baldwin house. There are a lot better places to live. UPDATE: The Baldwin house does not have a large bus. It is a 12 passenger at best. It was promised in the contract to provide medical appt trips (No extra fee) . I have lived at Baldwin House for almost three months. I did an extensive search for the right independent living place for myself and found beyond comparison that the Baldwin House was the best facility in the area. The accommodations are superior, the price was within my budget. the staff very friendly and concerned about my care, they have a variety of social events and the food is very well prepared by a master chief, featuring delicious meals with a variety of culinary preparations. I am very pleased with my decision to move here and give it my highest recommendation.

I am very pleased with my new home at Baldwin House and the staff. Everyone is very courteous and friendly. Th residents that I am meeting are friendly and will always speak or wave when the see me in the hallways. The dining area i lovely and the meals are delicious and well balanced, with a great variety of fish, meat, fruit, vegetables. The salads are always fresh and crispy. The dining staff is always friendly. The desserts are amazing with a variety of mouth-watering choices. The days are full of activities planned by the social activities director from shopping outings, entertainment on the premises to Bingo and even small discussion groups, I am very happy to be a resident at Baldwin House and call it: "My Home!"
