Atkinson Family Practice

I have been a patient of AFP for many years now, and I don't have enough good things to say about them. Not only are the doctors professional, respectful, knowledgeable, but all the support staff are simply fantastic! In addition, Dr. Atkinson has been a tireless and stalwart advocate for access to affordable, quality health care in Massachusetts.

My doctor told me she would be leaving the practice in a year. Trying to be proactive I've decided to search for a new doctor. Unfortunately the new doctor can not see me without receiving my medical records from Atkinson family practice. I requested them twice because they claim they did not receive the first request, which they helped me to complete on line, I drove there and physically completed a second request, this was 2 months ago and I'm still having to call over and over with no results. I'm ill and can't get medical care. This is ridiculous.

I have been going to Atkinson Family Practice for almost 10 years now. They are wonderful. Dr. Kate in particular is a lovely down to earth person who talks to you like a fellow human being instead of a subject to move out the door as fast as possible. She genuinely cares about her patients and stays up to date on the latest treatments. The front desk staff is kind and helpful.

Used to love this practice have been going here for about 15 years. I’d say the past 5 years have been terrible. I stayed for a while because I did love my doctor but she left to go work somewhere else. Now I have nothing good to say about this practice the receptionists are awful. I have read other comments saying the same thing and it couldn’t be more accurate they don’t care about their patients. One receptionist recently told me that they were told not to take messages to give to my doctor, I was just wondering if I should be taking a supplement or not. Horrible absolutely horrible never used to be like this when I first started going here. Initially I was pleased with this practice (10 years ago). Now I am so frustrated with how the front desk staff treats people. They seem to do everything they can to limit your access to providers and reduce their work. I thought for awhile that they just did not like me for some reason, but I've sat in their waiting room and overheard how they treat others checking in or on the phone. I wish they'd take a moment to think about how they or a loved one might feel when they are sick or in pain and ask themselves how they would like to be treated. For example, if a person repeats their question to you, maybe you were not clear in your response, the person may be hard of hearing or may not have English as their first language.
