Yoshiya (Josh) Yamada, MD - MSK Radiation Oncologist

My experience with Dr Yamada at MSK was positive. He and his team went above and beyond to validate my concern around whether I really needed radiation for my brain tumor. They conducted additional genetic testing, which helped them downgrade the tumor thus saving me for having to go through radiation. Dr Yamada, his team and the pathology Department were amazing. Thank you. 🙏🏽

Dr. Yamada provided absolutely horrible care for my wife. During the nine years my wife was treated for brain cancer, I had the opportunity to witness and experience first-hand the care provided by many doctors. And, Dr. Yamada was by far the worst. His bedside manner was beyond apathetic, and his attention to detail and patient care was even worse. Had he been more attentive to my wife's symptoms (and not conducted our visits by zoom from what appeared to be his kitchen), he would have prevented her from having a seize in the ER less than 12 hours after her appointment with him. There are many other Radiation Oncologists in NYC that will provide better and more attentive care to their patients than Dr. Yamada.

Dr. Yamada pushed proton beam therapy on my brother who is in the last stages of metastatic glioblastoma that has finally spread into his spine. My brother was told he is a "good candidate" for the treatment and told it would cure him (!!!!) of his disease and extend his life. This sounded so unbelievable that I contacted him and asked how much time PBT would buy him and how will he deal with the side effects when he is already wheelchair-bound. My brother and mother who is caring for him don't speak English well or have advanced educations, and I already suspected that they were being seriously misled. First, I had to speak with a radiation tech, who of course declined to answer my questions. Next I spoke with his assistant, who also declined to answer my questions and promised that thi

Dr. Yamada is a good natured, highly intelligent radiation oncologist that is calming and efficient. He explains everything very thoroughly and clearly and we are very happy with his services. Thank you very much Dr. Yamada and your wonderful team, a well-deserved five stars!

My wife has been Dr Yamada's patient for over 5yrs. We've had at least 10 appointments with him. He is excellent. He is very comforting in her very complex medical situation. I strongly recommend him to anyone. His (and his Sloan team's) cancer expertise is unrefuted!
