Wingate at Springfield

I went to visit my grandfather and I have worked in senior living for almost 20yrs. I was so disappointed. My first complaint when I saw what was being served for dinner I felt so bad. The only time we ever used paper/disposable products was during an emergency, a sickness out break such as norva virus, or due to a weather emergency. To see that he was being served a dry tuna fish sandwich on a paper plate with a cup of water and nothing else. First that's not an appetizing meal, but it's not a full meal. Where were the fruits and vegetables? Where was the dessert? And only water as a beverage, there should be apple or cranberry provided. I went down to the 1st floor to buy a soda from the vending machine and then couldn't get the elevator to g9 back up to his floor. I understand that the

My grandfather was placed here for rehab after going through congestive heart failure. The staff treated him as a burden because he is hard of hearing and does not speak English well. Because of those reasons they placed home on psychiatric medication claiming he had dementia, which he does not,. That medication made him very confused, he did not recognize his family nor could he remember what his name is. They discharged him early stating he was harassing nurses but his discharge papers simply stated that he completed treatment .I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY FOR YOUR LOVED ONES!

Let me begin by saying I am not satisfied with the facility, care or staff at this location. The actors in Wingates commercials must have been compensated very highly to stretch the truth.... The rooms are nothing like shown in the pics. Half that size and in desperate need of remodeling. Depending on the shift, depends on how nice and reactive the staff is. Many of the CNA's need a class on how to answer the call bell in a timely fashion and how to respectfully talk and treat the nursing home residents. Pain meds are not given in a timely manor causing the residents to suffer needlessly. Meal delivery for those bound to their rooms is very inconsistent, and sometimes not delivered at all. Be prepared to bring sources of food both non perishable and refrigerated for your loved on

The staff at Wingate Springfield is very special. The aides and nurses treated my mom as if she were their mom. She was attended to promptly and kept clean at all times. And while the facility may not be the newest and most extravagant, it always smelled clean.

Never bring your love ones here they will treat them wrong
