Wingate at Beacon

My dad was brought there a few weeks ago for rehab from WMC after a fall an possible stroke and is doing great. Although they are understaffed, like everywhere else, they were attentive, kind and caring. The medical staff and the social workers were great with him and he is almost back to normal. I showed up at different times every day and he was always clean and comfortable. He had a few medical issues while there and was immediately and correctly cared for. The staff and front receptionist always greeted me by name, which is unusual. I highly recommend this facility for rehab.

This is not the proper place if you are looking for a team dedicated to getting you well and back to your life. Rehab therapists were great. Other staff were useless. I waited 2 days for water pitcher refill. My evening meds did not come 2 days in a row. When I requested them the 2nd night I was treated like a mentally infirm patient and repeatedly told I already got it and had forgotten. Nursing staff repeatedly ignored Dr orders to keep my foot iced and elevated. Nursing staff could not locate extra pillows for elevation or ice packs for my foot. Staff repeatedly entered my room, sat down, removed their facemasks and began chatting. Staff scheduled a follow up appt with my surgeon 1 week early. I had to pay trans costs and Dr could do nothing further as wounds had not healed yet. My Doc

Our experience has been very good. The staff are professional and caring. Two years ago my brother fully recovered during a relative short stay rehab and had two more quality years at home. This time he needs 24/7 supervision and has made the transition quite peacefully to long term care.

Exponentially disgusted and disappointed in the care that has been given to my mother since she arrived. My mother has been at Wingate for a few weeks now and we have yet to have an orientation meeting. My mother has open wounds in her bottom because she was left in a soiled diaper for five hours. She was transferred to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital because she was extremely dehydrated and has had 2 UTI’s within a week. The PA told us that Wingate has the ability to medicate patients intravenously so where is the disconnect? My mother had a stroke and her entire left side is completely flaccid yet she managed to fall out of her bed one night. The worst part is that Wingate waited an entire hour to contact my sister to notify her of the fall. I attempted to reach the nurse on the 2nd floor

Very disappointed in our loved ones care in the nursing facility. Basic supplies for general bathroom upkeep and hygiene are are always lacking. Rooms are not kept clean and food is inedible. There is no special dietary consideration for individual patient nutrition. Food and beverage choices are in short supply . It seems there are no daily medical assessments or vitals taken and attention is only given once something is wrong, and family requests medical intervention, as opposed to ‘catching’ an impending illness/infection in an early stage.
