West Newton Healthcare

My mother has lived at West Newton Healthcare for a couple of years and just passed. At first, I was concerned due to her language and hearing limitations, as well as frequent staff changes. Since 2024, and especially after new management and a new Nurse Director came on board in 2025, the improvement has been remarkable. The staff are now caring, friendly, and attentive, providing more personalized care. The nursing assistants are also wonderful. I truly appreciate the positive changes and feel much more at ease. Please keep up the great work.

This is a very poorly run facility. Although a few of the staff are there because they truly care about the residents and want to do their jobs, it's also clear the others are only there for their minimum wage paychecks. My family member has gotten so much worse since being admitted to this facility, W. Newton Healthcare and his "wife" does nothing to find some place better. The one star review says it all. These residents trust and depend on you. You all chose this job, including the Administrator, so do better. If anyone has a loved one in need of nursing home care, do all you can to avoid this one.

My mother passed away in this facility after 1.5 years here. During that time, we witnessed drastic and necessary improvements in many areas. It's not perfect and yes, personal things get lost - but it's unrealistic to expect otherwise at a facility dealing with Alzheimer patients. There are a lot of good-hearted people doing a job that is very hard and not well compensated. My family and I are very grateful for Robert's guidance and the team's efforts during a very difficult time.

I’ve volunteered at many healthcare facilities across the country, and West Newton Health Care has truly been one of my favorites. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by some of the most caring and compassionate staff I’ve ever met. The Executive Director, Robert, leads with grace and deep knowledge, and it’s clear how much the staff and residents respect him. The entire team reflects that same warmth and professionalism. I’m honestly surprised this facility is rated so low—my experience was outstanding. West Newton Health Care deserves far more recognition for the wonderful work they do!

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. They do not return calls. The nurses provide medications to the patients on their own schedule. The social work team does not return calls or engage in any minimal version of safe discharge planning. There were a few hard working staff who are sadly seem to be led by an incompetent administration. They ultimately discharged my relative without any formal or coherent plan of care, and prescriptions for life sustaining medications were not called in. It seems there is no actual oversight in Massachusetts for these facilities which is a shame. If you have a family member who ends up getting placed at West Newton, be sure to keep a close eye on their treatment.
