Wellstar Paulding Medical Center

I am writing to share my concerns regarding my experience at the Wellstar Paulding Emergency Department on November 17, 2025. I was returning as instructed by the provider I saw on November 14, and my only goal was to follow medical advice. Shortly after checking in at 6:41 am, I overheard the triage nurse respond to the check-in technician by saying, "I hate when he tells them to come back; he does not need to do that." Hearing this immediately made me feel uncomfortable and unsure whether my health concerns would be taken seriously. This was not the reassurance or professionalism a patient hopes to feel when entering an emergency room. While I waited, I overheard multiple staff members making inappropriate and unprofessional remarks. They commented negatively about other patients, joked

It’s a hospital. On the newer side. Expansion is also ongoing. Visited here, care from nurses and assistants, and PT and discharge were all great and friendly people. Professional. Ate lunch I. The cafeteria. Ok for hospital food. Although the chopped steak was great. Salad bar good. It’s by weight. Doctors we saw were knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. ID required to check into the hospital and you get a day pass for your shirt.

Absolutely unacceptable experience, I wish I could leave negative stars. My wife went to the ER with excruciating abdominal pain and arrived at 4:00 PM. The department was so overcrowded that patients were lined up down the hallway outside the ER and into the main lobby. Despite being in severe pain, she was not seen until after 10:00 PM — a six-hour wait. I understand emergency rooms can be busy, but when someone comes in with intense pain, waiting that long feels inhumane. What made it even more frustrating was the apparent lack of urgency from staff. While dozens of patients (at least 35+) were waiting, many employees appeared to be standing around talking. For the amount hospitals charge for even a basic ER visit, patients deserve timely, attentive care — especially in emergencies.

I’m truly puzzled by the low ratings for this hospital because my experience has been nothing short of exceptional. The entire staff has been incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional throughout my recovery from surgery. I want to give a special shoutout to Nurse Vicky and her aide, Driia, who went above and beyond to make me feel cared for and comfortable. The facility is spotlessly clean, and the food is surprisingly delicious—a rare treat for hospital stays! I can’t say enough good things about this place and wholeheartedly recommend this hospital and emergency care center above all others. Thank you for making a challenging and difficult time so much better!

If I could give zero stars I would. Dr Gibson is the rudest doctor I have ever met. I had just had a tubal ligation and my incision had opened up. During the exam I told him I was in a lot of pain and I need him to sit me up a little. He slug my bed up as fast as he could and stormed down the hall without saying anything and didn’t return. I realize this probably won’t make a difference but that was unacceptable and the worst bedside manner I have ever seen. Absolutely ridiculous.
