Walter Reed Post Acute

We visit with my aunt at the Abingdon area. They really take care of my aunt to ensure she’s clean, fed and comfortable. It’s clean and the nurses are very nice! God bless you all.

If I can give this a negative 5 I would! This place is ridiculous. Went to go see a loved one and the lady across the hall yelled for help for almost 2 hours. She was soaking wet and had soiled her clothes. I went to the nurse station to get her help there was 3 nurses sitting there laughing and joking and they came down about 30 min later. The nurses told her “stop hitting the call bell we are busy”. It’s 2pm and lunch has still not arrived for our loved one they said within the hour!

The staff here is really good. However, today, November 14, 2025. There’s a nurse here she is the worst. She seems to be overwhelmed and struggling to pass out the morning meds. This hospital really needs to make sure their staff properly so their patients are receiving the care that they deserve.

I recently had a family member there and I must say the care and compassion was above and beyond. Administrator and DON always checking on us and other residents. You can see the love the facility has for the residents.

I am in my 50s and had a traumatic injury from a simple fall. I instead of amputation the surgeons did a wonderful job at Riverside Hospital Newport News, VA. After an extended stay in the main hospital I was transferred to Walter Reed Convalescent and Rehab facilities for Rehab and step down care. Let me tell you, I felt like royalty! Everything was perfect from the cleanliness, custodian care of the facility to the kitchen! And the food was very good, sometimes too good and I'm picky, so this says a lot. The CNAs and nurses are very knowledgeable and kept my spirits up, checked on me and answered call bells within a reasonable time.
