Valley Eye Associates P C

Valley Eye Associates is fantastic. A few years ago my family and I moved over from one of the bigger companies in the Valley/Anchorage. At Valley Eye we get personalized care and excellent service. We’ve had a couple of emergency eye issues since joining Valley Eye and we have had quick and thorough care during each of these situations. It doesn’t happen often, but now I know when the doctor is running a little late that it means someone else is having their own emergency and being taken care of just as well as we have been. If you value personalized care, knowing the doc and staff by name, and being treated like family, this is your place.

I have gone here for many years for all of my eye exams as well as the adjacent store to buy my contacts/glasses. I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and Dr. Coon is very thorough in his work. However, the last few years I have not had a good experience with Dr. Coon in particular. Having a family history of some higher pressure, which I too inherited, he has insisted on my getting the most expensive tests every year (on top of a regular eye exam), despite previous tests showing no changes. Then after I refused to do the tests again for about a year, but decided to call my insurance to see if they would even pre-approve the testing, they told me that they could not because it is diagnostic, and I apparently had all ready been diagnosed with what the test was for. I showed up a bit early for my exam and was greeted very friendly by the front receptionist and given info to fill out..only took a moment. Within minutes I was in the first stage of the exam then onto the second stage (two different people, both very knowledgeable with their jobs.) After that I was into see the "eye doc" and experienced the most complete and professional exam and to top that off the doc" was quite personable and friendly. This is a great place and for sure I will return in the future. I was initially referred to this facility thru the VA Hospital in Anchorage and they surely found me an excellent place. Great Service and Care! I had a problem with blurred vision and Valley Eye Associates worked me in a full schedule. I had a torn and partially detached retina and Dr. Coon made a call and had me an appointment the next morning for surgery in Anchorage. I was able to accompany my son on a bear hunt that following weekend and watch while he took his first bear! I can't thank Dr. Coon and Valley Eye Associates enough! Top quality care.

While the actual eye doctor is very good at his job, knowledgeable, and friendly like the majority of the staff. Maria is the worst customer service employee I have dealt with in any healthcare industry. She’s consistently rude during my interactions in the office and doesn’t really seem to know her job that well. Most recently, I paid the full amount for the office to order my daughter 6 months worth of contacts. The contacts arrived and when the office called to inform me that they are ready for pickup, Maria insisted that she would not give me my daughters contacts because my insurance company didn’t cover the entirety of my daughters last visit. Which was only $61 but I explained that I had sent a message to the insurance company because they have previously covered the same exact
