I love UNC Hospital. Their oncologists/cancer center is superior to others. I have almost always had good experiences with nurses and doctors here. I love the level of knowledge the doctor's have and that it's a teaching hospital. I usually get top notch care. I find most of the doctors to be professional yet personable. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone with cancer or that has any issues/aliments.
Would give 5 stars, but one nurse bumped it down. My two year old daughter just got cochlear implants done. Dr. Dedmon was the surgeon and he did absolutely wonderful! The anesthesia team was also a good team to work with. They made sure her health was above all else in the end.. Dr. Dedmon said the surgery is typically about 4 hours long, sometimes sooner and sometimes later. My daughter got back to surgery at 8 am. Her daddy and I drove around the area after about 30 minutes, we were given the estimate time of 12 pm before they finished. We stop and grab something to eat real quick, and head towards the hospital. Dr. Dedmon calls us at about 11 am that the surgery was perfect but it’ll be a while before she wakes… a few minutes later, Nurse Cherry calls and tells us she’s waking up so we
These guys are terrible, and consistently terrible. They nearly killed my mother through pure neglect because she's an Alzheimer's patient. I explained this to them repeatedly, that she would not be able to ask for medication. I explained this to the nursing staff and the resident on duty multiple times. They promised me they would take care of her. When I came the next day, I discovered that they had left a woman with a fractured pelvis without a drop of pain medication all night and had even transferred her to another facility without medication. Then they sent a pitiful prescription script of ten pills with no dosage or administration schedule! So I could even get her meds after she left this terrible place. This is one of many incidents I have had with them. In fact, there's something
I want to take a moment to commend the staff of the UNC Chapel Hill Hospital ED for the care that they provided me last night. I had terrible nausea and a headache that were unbearable related to my medical condition. They were so kind and attentive. They were very busy as a trauma center, and were also dealing with our community-wide flu outbreak among other things. The ED and waiting areas were very clean. The staff told me how sorry they were that I was having such a hard time. They quickly managed my pain and nausea and asked my husband and I if we needed any refreshments or warm blankets. Those “little things” when you are miserable remind me that there is no such thing as little things. As a community healthcare system that I heavily rely on now, I can’t be any more grateful that th
Trying to communicate with UNC regarding healthcare and setting up appointments or trying to request records is getting really bad. They will not allow you to speak to anyone at your provider's office. All calls are routed through a call center and the people there are not very well trained in understanding the healthcare system or how the various different practices for which they answer calls operate. A family practice operates very differently than a hospital clinic. I am a healthcare provider and while I am happy in general with most of my providers at UNC, I will no longer seek care from any new providers there because the waits are too long and access to communication with your healthcare provider is often unavailable. This is despite having an electronic health record where you sho
