UMC Quick Care - Sunset

Was having some leg pain and nothing seemed to help so decided to go to an urgent care. I first went to Dignity but they closed their urgent care permanently so UMC was just down the street. When we arrived we were greeted right away and checked in on a computer, once that was done it took about 25 mins to get back to the desk and finish checking in with an agent. Once all the checking in was done we got to the back pretty quick. The nurse was nice and the doctor saw us pretty quick once she left . The doctor was spot on in his assessment but unfortunately they can't do ultrasounds so we had to go to Dignity on St Rose for more care. The staff were so friendly so I hate to leave this review but I was sent away and advised I have “tonsillitis” after 0 swabs of my throat and 0 white spots(I now know is a sign of it), only to start the prescription, get rapidly worse and within a few hours end up in the ER and told it was the Flu so the medication I was prescribed made it worse. The ER Dr said, with only having looked at my throat for a second “how did you think you had tonsillitis” at the beginning of the exams. Within 20 minutes they did a 15 minute test to say it was the flu and I was on my way. $300 in copays alone to be told I had the flu. The Dr here took the time in my exam to tell me to practice breathing techniques for stress and positive words and I sure did use them while getting the care that didn’t poison me

I developed a respiratory infection due to low IgG Levels from cancer treatment. I was encouraged to visit a quick care by my oncologist's nurse so I did. My lungs have a gurgling cracking sound along with wheezing which can be audibly heard. I explained all of this. The person came into the room and listened with a stethoscope. As I breathed I heard crackling in my breathing and wheezing. Yet he stated "my lungs sounded clear." Obviously he wasn't very well trained or he was in a hurry since they were nearly closed and didn't want to bother to do an x-ray of my chest. Absolutely horrible care. Especially for an immunocompromised patient!

Set up an appointment in advance. They called me today to reschedule as if people have the opportunity to take time off whenever. Terrible impression of a first time / new patient. Health care is a joke in Nevada but specifically here. They did not call me to offer others times that day, only that the Nurse Practitioner wouldn't be there.. so not only was I not even seeing a doctor. I was seeing the NP and they even cancelled. Terrible office.

I had a wonderful experience here today. I fell off my bike and got a pretty nasty gash on my knee. Needed 9 staples. Dr E and the whole staff were kind, patient and caring during a stressful and painful situation. Thank you all for the wonderful and compassionate care.
