UI Health Care Medical Center

My first impression was horrible, however over the course of hours and getting to know everyone, im pleased with my stay here at the Uof I campus. The food is a hit, the people in the kitchen can cook omg!! They were friendly and prompt, they need a raise!!! My nurses were knowledgeable and prompt. They where all open and talkative as well as informative. Donish, Issac, all my procedure doctor's the whole team at the University of Iowa who worked on me where all really professional& good people! Shout out to the hard workers and staff!! Thank you guys!!

had a doctor treat my grandma horribly today for being a spanish speaker. he got visibly annoyed waiting for me to translate what he was saying to her, cutting me off multiple times and rolling his eyes when i would explain things to her in a language she understands better. when we asked how long her test results would take he said “a couple weeks maybe, but i don’t speak spanish.” implying he isn’t going to tell us her test results because of her language barrier? horrible behavior from a place/profession that should be judgement free. what made it even worse was the dr had an accent himself, so he of all people should not be prejudice considering it’s obvious English wasn't his first language either. all around disgusting experience.

14 years after being misdiagnosed at UIowa, and I am asked to participate in a study not based on my symptoms. This seems to track with the whole Iowa experience. I have had to have surgeries after being misdiagnosed at UI. Why should I participate in a study where I am not even a good case study? Asking because I am told I qualify for a pain study I never even was diagnosed to have. Apparently anyone presenting with pain is open to this rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia study DESPITE NOT USING IOWA FOR 14 YEARS! How and why did I get added to this study? What do you hope to accomplish with 14 years of missing medical records? I do hope for a response.

Working with constant issues with appointment schedulers is an absolute nightmare. On top of dealing with an already stressful and daunting amount of appointments, I’ve had to deal continued issues with scheduling. Individual medical professionals have been great at appointments and feel I am receiving top quality care.

My mother had surgery today and everything was fantastic! UNTIL after she got out of the OR. My dad and I weren't with her the whole timebbut based on how we were all treated together I can't imagine how she was treated alone. The nurses (if they can be called that) did the bare minimum, barely. The one who was attending to my mother didn't think to have something underneath her just in case of bleeding...after she had a hysterectomy... they provided her with pads after she bled through the gown and onto the chair. Then the same nurse didn't explain parking to us which lead to the next mess, but that's to come. Before we got that far we waited for that nurse to come back after he said he would bring a wheel chair for my mother so she didn't have to walk to the parking ramp (which I thought
