UI Health Care - Medical Center Downtown - Emergency Room

I was recently seen at the ER. I was having chest pain and weakness and I was dizzy. I ended up having a panic attack when i got into my room. The nurses jumped into gear as soon as I walked into the ER! I have never been treated so kindly and so quickly. I’m from Cedar Rapids and have gone to Mercy and St Luke’s many times but this experience here was AMAZING!!!!!! I just can’t express enough how grateful I am for the help I received and the kindness that came along with it. Thank you so so much!

Once again treated badly by some of the ED staff. I have frequent EKGs done and they always take my stickers off and that nice. Not in the ED that was Mercy! Obviously they retained some of the bad technician that Mercy had. Even my Drs at the U have told me how badly the ED was when Mercy had it. It was a small thing but the woman’s attitude was horrible. She didn’t even have all the leafs on when I was talking to the Dr and she told me to be quiet. I was then silent. She put the last lead on and didn’t even get a reading and started to take them off. She also didn’t take me patches off. I called a patient advocate and the technician’s response was I was more than capable to take my stickers off. Her attitude and her judgment of me was VERY unprofessional!!! I was treated absolutely HORRIFIC by the doctor and nursing staff when I came here this evening (10/14/25) they completely dismissed me, disregarded everything I was saying and on top of it all breeched HIPPA and gave me another patients MRI results. I am completely DONE with U of I healthcare in any shape and form. If you want quality care do NOT go to any of the U of I emergency care facilities. They don’t treat you like a human being in the least bit.

Went in, receptionist was quick & courteous. Nurses and doctors were ver nice. Whole process was quick, caring and I was taken care of really well.

I had a disappointing experience with Dr. ALLISON WALSH during my recent visit. I was provided with inaccurate information about the hospital’s pain management policies, which caused confusion and added to my distress. Additionally, I felt that the doctor was dismissive of my pain and was quite short in communication, leaving me feeling unheard and unsupported. I hope this feedback can help improve patient care in the future.
