My wife was very near sighted. She went for cataract surgery. Her vision was corrected by contacts for distance and she could read without glasses. However the cataract was getting thicker. The doctor did not tell my wife that there was a high risk of retina tears with people with her condition. We thought it was a simple removal of a cataract. The surgeon said after the fact, that it was a difficult removal and he was unable to insert a lense in her eye. After the surgery her vision was basically gone in that eye. She ended up with a tear which resulted in two subsequent surgeries to repair her retina. She no longer can see out of the eye. Vision 500/20. The ophthalmologist when asked why we were not warned about the risk associated with cataract removal with myopic eye he said “we do so

I had to wait over three hours for a yearly check up exam. The exam took less than 2 min for my eyes with a history of retinal tear, bleeding and vitreous detachment, the shortest in my life time. Prescription glasses I ordered generated distorted sight. I had to drive three times two hours round trip to get it right, but never happened. If you have a major issue, the service they provide may be ok (an impression I've got from their ratings) but otherwise stay away! You were warned!

The waiting time at this location is ridiculous and inhumane for the old people that has to wait 3,4,5 hours to be seen by the ophthalmologist. The physicians are excellent but the organization of the clinic regarding the waiting time is the worse I have ever had to go through. My mother , an 87 y/o lady should not have to wait 5 hrs to see a doctor. There should be a law against that. This is the reason why this facility one star. Even the personal that works there agreed with me but they said there is nothing they can do. I hope this review will make a difference for the benefit of all patients that deserve to be treated with respect.

They are considered amongst the very best eye hospitals in the world. Your mileage may vary and i hope you have tremendous success there. In my own experience i find them more concerned about stats than science. Fixing or attempting to fix something but risking the chance of not succeeding is WORSE to them than not trying at all. Be careful of their surgeons. When every tool you have is a hammer all problems look like a nail, right? I’ve also had ADA concerns with the hospital. Baffling, considering you would assume they have tremendous experience with the disabled. Long story short, if you are even sniffing around Bascom, I’m sure it’s a horrible situation you find yourself and I’m sure you’re scared.
