Towncrest Pharmacy

I transferred from a big box pharmacy due unpredictable closures with staff shortages and drug shortages delaying refills. Unfortunately they do not contract with GoodRX. I understand the rationale behind paying to participate and protect patient privacy. They offered an ‘in-house discount program’ but it did not offer savings on my unaffordable med. It was previously affordable with GoodRx. Some of us need help with prescription costs. Noting for others who rely on GoodRx. Ideally I would like to do business without a chain but need the savings. The LocalRX app also couldn’t recognize me despite verifying my info was correct in their system. I didn’t feel the transition was smooth given both these things.

This is why I love small towns. Everyone here is so helpful, so friendly, and above all else they really care. I have been in a couple of times and have been met with so much kindness and empathy that you just don’t find elsewhere.

Good luck picking up your meds if you work a full time job. They’re never open when you actually need them to be and their new app isn’t up to date on what you’ve requested vs what is ready for pick up. You’re better off going to a chain.

About 3 years ago I left a big box pharmacy due to inconvenient hours, unannouced closures and drug shortages delaying refills. I switched to Towncrest Pharmacy in Iowa City and couldn't be more pleased. All of the pharmacists and staff there are detail oriented, patient, professional, knowledgeable and are focused on good customer experiences. It is also evident the pharmacists care about you and are truly interested and invested in good outcomes for their customers. The pharmacists found a more ecomonical way for me to purchase drugs through the Apothecary without me requesting that. Truly outstanding service. I feel everyone there is invested in my health. Also without me requesting a meeting a staff member met with me to discuss possible mental health care providers in the area.
