I was referred to Dr Novella by a wonderful doctor in the city, and unfortunately can’t comment on having an actual appointment, but can comment on how I was treated trying to make one. This practice made no effort to even entertain a conversation on how to best use the benefits of my (very good) out of network insurance plan to see the doctor, despite 90% of other out of network providers that I’ve seen billing a completely different way such that it’s actually affordable and attainable for a normal person to get care. When I very nicely called them to discuss, I was just told “that’s not how we run the practice.” There was no “let me talk with the doctor” or any efforts at all made to help or better understand my situation. I've seen Dr. Novella over the years for various problems. I'm VERY picky about my doctors and he's just wonderful! He's very experienced: from professional athletes to professional dancers & ordinary folks, like me. He's brilliant, honest, down-to-earth, patient, kind & warm. He explains everything very clearly - what foot problem is, treatment options, etc. You won't find a better podiatrist in the NYC area.

I'm a big fan of Dr. Novella. He's a podiatrist who does not do surgery, so he's a wonderful resource for an unbiased opinion. He recommended that I avoid surgery (other drs - who were also surgeons recommended I get surgery), fast forward 6 years and my foot feels much better and I'm incredibly grateful that I avoided surgery. He's not anti-surgery, just unbiased / unvested. He's very straightforward, and has been working in this field for decades. I highly recommend him.

As a former professional ballet/Broadway dancer I have very bad foot problems. A friend who was also a professional dancer suggested I call this Dr. For a Dr. who supposedly takes care of dancers I was surprised when they said they take no insurance. I assume that means cash only! Outrageous. This is no doctor, this is a money hungry blood sucking thief! Disgusting, should be ashamed!

Dr. Novella takes a very no nonsense holistic evidence-based approach. Highly recommend for simple as well as complex matters involving the foot/ankle.
