The Mount Sinai Hospital-Billing and Patient Financial Services

The most frustrating and unhelpful group of workers I have had the misfortune to encounter. After a procedure I had a balance copaymentto pay I used mt HRA to pay it it was approved and paid within 3 days, problem is it was mailed to the doctors office and not the billing department at 42nd street PO Box . Because of that they could not, and never attempted to find that check though it was mailed to the doctors office. The attitude was, if it did not come here, not our problem. They kept billing me the HRA reissued a new check , same thing. Form letters of apology and no help. After 4 months of incompetence on display I decided to pay the bill, cancel the check and let my HRA reimburse me. NOW they were willing to talk to me. Just got off the phone with Jahvon who settled my issue completely in less than 10 minutes. (This unfortunately was after 45 minutes of multiple transfers). Jahvon was so professional and thorough in investigating my account. Can’t say enough about his customer service. Mt Sinai needs more like him. Thank you

They have fraudulently billed me on more than one occasion. The billing department refuses to take any responsibility, will not help in any capacity to rectify the mess that THEY made, and will flat out LIE about communications that they've had with you. If you get Naomi on the phone, hang up and call again, she is the one who will lie (even with other witnesses, like my insurance company who also recognised on the line that there was actually NO record of the communications she claimed existed). (Editing my review to also state that all of my issues with Mount Sinai have been with their emergency and urgent care services...)

Unethical and illegal billing practices. They refuse to bill my insurance for a visit that would indeed be covered, fraudulently charged me $125 and advised it would be reimbursed once my insurance settled claim. The visit was on July 22nd, 2024 now its June 6th 2025 and still no resolution. Carmen is the worst changing the story numerous times via mychart to avoid taking ownership that mount sinai allowed a doctor to work who didnt have proper authorization in their system/insurance to be billed for patients!! They said doctor was in network as of July 1st, now it's turned into. No wait, August 4th. I've reported through to the proper channels, I will not allow them to silence me, they stole my money and its illegal to deny billing someone's insurance.

Worst customer experience I've ever had. I saw them over nine months ago and they still haven't processed my insurance claim. I've had to call Mt Sinai every month since to avoid having the outstanding balance, which is incorrect since my insurance never received the claim from them or the fact that I already paid my entire deductible at the time, sent over to debt collection. I can't believe this is a real hospital
