The Cottages at Garden Grove

All in all my mom received decent care at this facility. My issues with this facility was the fact that it is extremely understaffed, not super transparent as far as patient treatment & cleanliness of the facility. My mom was a long term patient, approximately 3 months & cleaning days were Tuesday/Thursday. Other days when we went to visit we would clean her room ourselves. For the amount of money that this cost I would think they could hire a few more aids & clean more than twice a week. Our biggest disappoint is this…my mom passed there on Thursday…we were told that as long as we came back by Sunday to clean out her room it would be fine. We arrived today(Saturday) & we’re not let into her building. Her possessions well all in the garage in garbage bags with all the other garbage from th

Horrible place. The same as any nursing home. Totally understaffed. No activities. Patients sitting in wheelchairs with no socialization. Not very clean, terrible food. Not at all what you expect from the outside and what you are told about the place.

I give high praise to the facilities and staff at the cottages, in particular all the nurses, aides and therapists that took care of my mom for the 4 months she was there until she passed away recently. They were flexible and always willing to help, and SUPER caring, making frequent visits to my mom. They noticed all the important medical changes and took good care of wounds that kept happening due to my mom's skin condition. Most important, they were with Mom during her last hours... So very caring! God gives people special talents to deal with seniors; I saw strong evidence of this at the cottages ❤️

I have a one star for the hand full of good aides. There are no recreational activities because Heather would rather gossip with staff than try to engage residents. Jim is an excellent nurse. He used to walk around playing music on his phone which residents loved until ond bad aide ruined it for them. Often they are VERY short staffed. Any residents needing assist sometimes have to wait over 30 minutes. Any deep cleaning in rooms will be done by family members.

My stay here for the most part was a pleasant experience. The therapy was very good both OT and PT. The food is okay it's not as good as hospital food but edible and certainly not close to home cooked means or restaurants. The aids are wonderful and very helpful especially considering everything they need to take care of. If I needed this case again I would go back here.
