Sree Bhavani Chalasani, MD - MSK Gastrointestinal Oncologist

I've been under Dr. Chalasani's care since April 2025. From day one, I felt she heard my concerns and carefully listened to me EACH time I saw her (I always came with list of questions/concerns!) She is top of her game and I am very pleased she is my oncologist. I believe she gave me excellent treatment, allowing me to be cancer-free as of my last scan in September. She developed a strong plan from day one and adjusted as needed during my time under her care. Additionally, her staff are all excellent, answering questions and providing quick follow up as needed. When you have cancer, you are scared, worried, and terrified much of the time. Dr. Chalasani and her amazing staff were always there for me, as were ALL of the nurses at Sloan in Basking Ridge! If only I could leave 0 stars. My mother was left worse off under her care. The treatment protocol did nothing but make things worse. If only we could sue. Do not come to these traditional cancer doctors. They are nothing but a waste of time and a complete disappointment. I can assure you they do not care about the wellbeing of your loved one. The pain management team at SK is also nothing but a disgrace. Pursue alternatives. Say no to chemo. These people only care about being politically correct in the eyes of the pharmaceutical industry and are motivated to save their own backs.

If I could give half a star, I would! Dr Chalasani never fought this disease with us! She was obligated to help us fight it! She’s so detached and desensitized, and can’t even hide it. She would walk into your appointments unprepared, and you would literally feel like she was being timed. Forget about trying to reach her via email or on the phone!!! The biggest blow was when she told us we had to go on a clinical trial and the only thing she did when we asked for help was tell us to go on clinical trials.gov with no guidance whatsoever! Clearly, we were on our own! We finally found a trial through the help of other clinicians in the industry who had oncology experience and started that journey. If I could give zero reviews I would. This woman from day one treated my dad with disrespect and as a number. For someone who’s going through cancer, that in itself is scary enough. But to have a doctor you “trust” treat you like a number and off the bat basically tell you you’re not going to make it and then have the nerve to ask why the patient is crying is mind boggling. She didn’t do a pre auth for my dad and once the insurance rejected the chemo and she couldn’t appeal it anymore all of a sudden she changed the chemo treatment stating the original treatment didn’t work. Her change of treatments caused the cancer to spread and ultimately my dad passed due to this. I truly love working with Dr. C SHE IS GREAT and super smart. Her staff is also awesome. I feel Heard and safe. I also love that she does involve me in the treatment plan and my opinions. I have also asked her to speak to a friend who was dx somewhere else. And she was able to help them within days. Not everyone would do that.
